Bucklers of Swash
Guild Charter
- Goal -
Bucklers of Swash is a World of Warcraft guild that aims to progress together to see endgame content.
We are a casual, social guild with raiding at its core, but we do not require members to raid, and it is not the only thing we do. We participate in all aspects of World of Warcraft. This is a game, and by definition this means that it should be fun to play. Our main goal is to progress into the endgame content of World of Warcraft, and our focus is to have fun doing it.
- Guild Rules & Expectations -
- Bucklers of Swash is a name we all share, therefore, your conduct with others should reflect positively on that name.
- For in-guild issues, we are a lighthearted bunch, and like to joke around; however, jokes should not become offensive or hateful. Your interactions with other players should not be rude, offensive, or in any other way negatively affect the guild's reputation. Your playstyle should also be respectful of others in your zone or group; while we encourage fun, it should not come at the expense of others.
- If your behavior causes issues within the guild, with other players, or while participating in a group or raid, you may be removed from the group/raid. Any of these offenses may lead you to being demoted or removed from the guild.
- Guild drama is not acceptable. This is a video game guild, not a soap-opera. If there is a personal dispute between players, or over loot, etc, the members involved should contact an officer or the guild leader immediately to inform them of the issue.
- Guild Ranks -
Prospective Member: Prospective Member of the Guild. This rank is given to players that have applied and been accepted to the guild; this is considered a trial period to see if a player is a good match with our guid. Players of this rank should expect to have it for at least one month, in which time it is encouraged that they introduce themselves to the membership and participate in guild activities. During this period of time, loot may be restricted, as full membership is not guaranteed.
Member: Full Member of the guild. This title is given to players who have shown themselves to be participating members of the guild. These players are allowed free-rolls on applicable loot, as described in the loot rules. They are eligible to participate in all guild activites and use all guild bank tabs that are designated for full members. Friends and family of Members who play are eligible to be expedited through the process of becoming a Full Member.
Veteran: Title of Honor. A person of this rank has earned this distinction by demonstrating one or more of the following: leadership ability, regular participation in guild activities, knowledge of the game, playing skill. They have all of the rights of full members, and greater access to the guild bank than Members. Veterans are eligible to be promoted to the rank of officer.
Officer: Part of the guild leadership. They hold the responsibility of assisting the guild leader in their duties and performing the functions assigned to them in their Specialization. They are able to vote on all matters concerning the membership of the guild and are available to help guild members with anything pertaining to guild activities or assets. There can only be five members of this rank at any given time.
Guild Leader: Leader of the guild, with all privileges and responsibilities of its management. The Guild Leader has the final say on all guild matters.
- Raiding -
As the primary goal of the guild is to see endgame content, we have rules and suggestions to govern how we raid.
All guild members who raid must:
Have a basic understanding of their role in a group, how to play their class, and be able to listen to the directions of a Raid Leader.
Install and run Ventrillo during raids. You do not have to purchase a microphone or talk, but you must be able to listen. All raid execution and directions will be handled through Ventrillo.
Install all addons in the required addon list.
Come prepared to the raid. This means having all reagents and consumables (flasks, food buffs, potions, etc.) All gear should be repaired to 100% and be reasonably gemmed and enchanted.
Arrive on time. Invites for Raids will start 30 minutes prior to the event. 15 minutes before the raid, all players are expected to be at the Raid location, unless the raid leader has been notified in advance and has approved.
Know the raid and its encounters. Players must research their role in the current Raid and be prepared for all fights. Players will be assisted in this by the Raid Strategist.
Failing to follow one or more of these rules may cause you to lose your spot in a raid. Repeated failure may cause you to be replaced on a raid team.
It is recommended that:
All DPS characters carry a full stack of bandages, as certain situations may prevent the healers from healing them.
Raid Execution
The Raid Leader is the player in charge of all Raid Actions. They should listen to the suggestions of the other Raid members, but ultimately have the final say in all decisions. If for any reason the Raid Leader is unsure of how to proceed, they should ask for advice.
Raid Leader has several responsibilities:
- Selection of Main tank
- How the raid progresses through the instance
- Who pulls and how
- Who to use Soulstones on and when
- What buffs are given, who gives them, who recieves them
- Who to use Divine Intervention on and when
- Who receives Combat Rezzes, and when
- Looting -
Looting may be announced through Ventrillo or in Raid chat. The raid leader will place the item to be rolled for in Raid chat and call for anyone interested to /roll for the item. The highest on-spec roll will win the item. If no on-spec players roll for the item, players may roll for off-spec; the highest roll wins. If no one wants the loot, it will be disenchanted, and the mats put in the guild bank for later use.
In order to facilitate faster gearing of our raiders, there is one loot restriction. Once you have received loot, your rolls will not be counted against someone who hasn’t. This should prevent a new player coming in and receiving five pieces of gear when other veteran raiders (raiders who have attended several times already) needed one of those pieces. This restriction is only applicable for one piece of loot, after which your rolls will be counted equally with all others who have already recieved loot. This does not apply to items on which all raid members are eligible to roll for, such as BoE items.
Loot may be reserved if and only if the loot in question has been discussed with the raid leader prior to raid. A majority of the other players in the raid must agree before the raid begins that the loot reservation is acceptable. A request for loot reservation will only be taken into consideration if the request is deemed reasonable by the raid leader, and would directly benefit the guild.
